The Brazilian artist Solange Pessoa (*1961) works in various disciplines: sculpture, installation, painting, drawing, ceramics and video. Pessoa refers to nature in her work: the themes of sustainability and the careful use of resources are more than mere buzzwords for her; they are at the core of her artistic practice. Pessoa finds original creativity in the cycle of life. She makes the location, local nature and regional cultural history themselves the subject of her exhibition. For her installations, the artist collects available raw materials from the region: earth, plants, fruits, animal bones and feathers, which she then fills into objects and containers. As in her previous artistic practice, in Bregenz she also links existing works with the exhibition site, allows installations to grow and creates new works that will be shown here for the first time.
